The Question..

..I was asked by a friend recently had me stunned. I have this really great book full of questions that I like to break out when I am trying to get to know people. It's got 1500 questions that all begin with a hypothetical "if". Cruising through this book I find questions that occasionally leave me really really thinking. Although, when Jessica asked me the question I just sat there and said, "Damn good question!" She let me know she didn't find it in the book, she just came up with it, although it could very well be in there.

The question? If you could be any character from any movie, who would you be? Fuck. What would do I say to that. So many characters have so many characteristics of which I could be happy with. I limited myself to films, any other options would make it too hard to nail down.

After over a week of thinking about it, I came to an answer. Tyler Durdan. Originally I thought in so many other directions but it came to me. Tyler, the true Tyler played by Edward Norton, was lost in this life where he began to lack meaning. So much that his subconscious mind created a separate personality to free himself from the banality of his day to day. The Tyler of his subconscious was a representation of everything he wished he could be. He looked like he wanted to look, he fought like he wished he could fight, he fucked like he wanted to, and acted the way he wanted to. The most amazing thing about all it was that it was still him. He created this personality that was a his fullest potential and then he became it. After riding this creation for some time he began to wake up to the realization of who he was and what he was fully capable of. Sure, it scared him, but he walked away having the knowledge of who he truly was and he could become.
